You’ll even see a bot dressed up as Snake from Metal Gear Solid, and when you kick the box, it makes the classic alert sound each time you kick. 88vv is the latest platformer starring Astro Bot that comes pre-loaded on the PlayStation 5. Join Astro and his crew and experience a magical introduction through the PS5, exploring four worlds based on PS5’s console components. Each area showcases innovative gameplay that taps into the new features of the DualSense. To unlock the 10 artifacts in the PS Labo, enter the PS Labo (bottom-left on the map) and go to the opposite side from where you started. On this machine, you can spend your collected coins to get 28 Puzzle Pieces and 10 artifacts.

If you happen to be one of the lucky few with a PlayStation 5 this holiday season, there aren’t going to be a ton of games that really show off all the fancy features of this giant white tower in your house. Lucky for you, Astro’s Playroom is one of the best showpieces of the PS5, setting a new standard for what this next generation is really capable of. In one level, I run Astro through a rainstorm, and an automatic umbrella pops up out of his head.

Astro’s Playroom

This references the 2007 game PAIN on PlayStation 3, developed by Idol Minds. It’s notable for becoming the most popular downloadable game on the PlayStation Network at the time. On the right-hand side of the CRT pile at the end of the level are some Bots huddled around gaming on a CRT. The game they’re playing references Ridge Racer, released in 1997 for the PS1 and made by Delphine Software International. The title screen has close similarities to the original Ridge Racer and sequel Revolution, particularly the latter with a full-screen chequered flag.

Whilst there are serious problems, I personally found these to have a workaround that made them doable. The core quest in Astro’s Playroom is to retrieve the four main artefacts across four different, diverse levels. Each level is split into four key areas, two of which are reliant on a feature of the DualSense, all are mandatory to complete the levels.

This zone’s suit is the Monkey Suit, which you control with the Adaptive Triggers and the SIXAXIS. It’s worth noting that you can play through the first four zones in any order you please. Their order in this guide is based on the artefacts, starting with the original PlayStation through to the PlayStation 4. The artefacts in Astro’s Playroom are PlayStation equipment that can be found in golden crates as you progress through all levels.

Astro’s Playroom Shows Off The Dualsense’s Power

As soon as I encountered the first of these, I knew I would have serious issues with this game when it comes to my disability. I opted to enter Memory Meadow first, a charming area with fields aplenty. The mandatory interaction area in this level required the use of the touchpad, namely to flick repeatedly in the direction you wish to travel to move the ball. I managed fine at first, but the muscles in my hand rapidly began to exhaust before I had even completed the area.

It enabled Social Screen video output to the TV, which meant it adjusted the VR headset’s display so that it was viewable on a television. This also allowed it to be used with asymmetrical multiplayer modes such as those used in The Playroom VR, and handles normal 2D content. A revised version of the Processor Unit allowed for HDR passthrough, which was a feature added to all PS4s via firmware. The DualShock 4 marked the first time the PlayStation controller was given a significant aesthetic redesign. The new Share Button, which let you take screenshots and record video, replaced the Select Button, Fortunately, almost all games moved the Select Button function to pressing down on the new touchpad.

Explore your favorite games in premium print format, delivered to your door. Remember, you unlock a set of races by making it to the end of the four main zones, meaning this Trophy isn’t possible until you do that and open 1994 Throwback, which has the same unlock requirement. This will complete the challenge, unlocking the Ape Escape Special Bot and earning you the No Escape! If this is your final Special Bot to unlock, you’ll also get the Four the Players Trophy.

Land on the next switch to the left to lower some more platforms above. Jump up the platforms to the top, but keep an eye out on the top-left to spot Puzzle Piece #2. The platform design is rarely all that inspired though and we’re still very disappointed that all the enemies are direct rip-offs of Mario enemies, even relatively obscure ones like Pokey and Wiggler.

Astro’s Playroom has received a surprise update that adds the PS5 Pro and other PlayStation accessories to the game’s gacha machine. Astro’s Playroom launched over four years ago, but developer Team Asobi has since released a few updates for the fan-favorite game. Hopefully, this has helped you to get the most out of the free PS5 platformer.
